“My daughter Gloria-Rose came to Mimi‘s house in 2021. She was very shy child. Wouldn’t look people in the eyes. Her voice just wouldn’t come out, and she was definitely afraid of trying anything new or touching anything, and she finally came to learn from Mimi‘s house. The whole year was a success for her. She built friendships. She’s built resilience in herself, confidence in herself, and all because a program like Mimi‘s house Each week gave her that little encouragement and it’s built her confidence so much that she’s moving. She’s moving ahead in life.”

“When we first met Gloria-Rose she was shy. She was so anxious that she could barely get on the bus, but over the course of the year we saw this girl just blossom into a girl that gave everything a go and she learnt that it’s okay to fail, but it’s so great when you give things a go and you do succeed and you know we’re seeing results a year later that she’s now attending youth group, she’s engaging in the classroom, she’s got a community of children and teachers around her and she’s got a sense of belonging.”

“So what do I say? Like at first, it was hard to come here but I got through it and I did it, and it was really fun in the end it made me feel happy. It made me have courage. I loved it so much. I really want to come again.”

“This girl was very anxious. Never really had friends, and the story that we’re hearing back from school is that she’s made friends with the children that she attended Mimi’s House with and the fact that she’s even acknowledging them as friends is a big step for her.”
