the Garrett Family’s Story
A Journey of
Resilience and Hope
It was here that Charmaine began to blossom and come out of her shell
Warren and Amanda are proud indigenous Australian parents of five wonderful girls, have experienced a life filled with both challenges and triumphs. Their path led them to the Moreton Bay region, where they found hope and support through Mimi's House.
In 2016, their eldest daughter Charmaine, then 8 years old, started attending Mimi's House program once a week. It was here that Charmaine began to blossom and come out of her shell, thanks to the caring environment. Her newfound love for cooking even inspired others in their community.
Amanda cherished the Mother's Pamper Day at Mimi's House in 2017, while Warren found a strong connection with the male family support worker. Seeds of transformation were planted and nurtured as Warren and Amanda sought help from both within and outside Mimi's House. They opened up their lives to others, finding strength and relief.
"If it wasn't for Mimi's House, we wouldn't be where we are today. I'm so proud of where we are.”
Today, Warren and Amanda continue their journey with determination. Warren is thriving and lending hands to others. He has even helped with moving our Mimi’s sites. Four of their five daughters have benefited from Mimi's House program. Amanda expressed her gratitude, saying, "If it wasn't for Mimi's House, we wouldn't be where we are today. I'm so proud of where we are.”
